An introduction to handwriting identification

Document Examination

A person's handwriting is the manifestation of a learned pattern, stored in the brain. Just as you write your signature with your hand, you'll produce a very similar copy by flexing your whole arm and producing a signature by only moving your limb as an entity. Similarly, you can think of signing your name with your foot, elbow or nose. They all will move in the same manner. A limb acts as an extension from a learned brain pattern. It is scientifically recognized that each person is uniquely different from another. Although twins are genetic copies of each other, each brain is truly one of a kind. Thus, based on our brain and its learned processes, we each have our own handwriting which will be different from anyone else's. Our unique patterns of script support the practice of document examination. In fact, there are infinite methods of writing any character. It's unlikely that we can produce identical signatures ourselves, let alone forge someone else's entirely.

The science of document examination

Those who work in handwriting identification can test the similarities and differences of signatures or writing and thus determine validity. They must notice differences in writing instruments, writing surfaces, paper texture, and other possibilities. A writer's signature may even be influenced by stress, illness, medication and drug or alcohol use and it's up to the examiner to know the difference. Document examination requires speculative detective work. Mr. Dines has combined this investigative work with years of experience to earn a respected name in examining documents. Mr. Dines is certified in document examination and is very familiar with court proceedings. He regularly testifies of a document's authenticity or invalidity, according to his test results. He can perform dozens of other services regarding handwriting, paper printing, and photocopying at your request.
